Tik Tok Scam and possible other platforms |
||
|
I've been made aware of a new scam going around, not sure if you are aware. Please be careful out thereā¦.
TikTok video likes scams involve fraudsters posing as recruitment agents or HR, offering easy money (hundreds per day) for simply liking or sharing TikTok posts, often via Telegram or WhatsApp. Victims are initially paid small amounts but are eventually coerced into sending money for "tasks" or to unlock earnings, resulting in significant financial loss.
Key Aspects of the TikTok Likes Scam:
The Hook: Scammers, claiming to be from TikTok or reputable companies, contact users via Telegram or WhatsApp, offering jobs that pay for engagement. The Process: Victims are asked to like or follow specific TikTok accounts. The Scam Mechanism: After initial small, "legitimate" payments, victims are asked to pay their own money to "upgrade" their account or access higher-paying tasks. Money Mule Activity: Victims may be asked to transfer money, unknowingly moving funds from other scam victims, which can make them complicit in illegal activities. Fake "Free Likes" Services: Third-party sites promising free likes or followers often steal login credentials.
How to Protect Yourself:
Ignore Unsolicited Offers: Never accept "job opportunities" through messaging apps like Telegram or WhatsApp, especially those promising high pay for simple tasks. Do Not Pay Money: Never send money to receive a promised payment or to "unlock" tasks. Verify Identity: TikTok does not operate by recruiting through private messages on other platforms. Protect Credentials: Avoid websites promising free followers or likes. If you have already engaged with such a scam, immediately stop communication, report the user on TikTok, and contact your bank.
Please pass this onto your family and friends
